By His Spirit Part 4

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6 (ESV)

When looking at the context in which Zechariah 4:1-7 took place. Both Zechariah and Haggi were called by God to mobilise the people and their spiritual leaders, Joshua and Zerubbabel, to rebuild the temple. The Babylonians destroyed the in 587 BC. Zerubbabel was the one in charge of rebuilding the temple and leading the people. In chapter 4, we come to his fifth vision about the golden candlestick and the two olive trees. The lampstand represented the Holy Spirit and God, revealing that the temple would not be built by might or by power but by the Spirit of God. God will accomplish the completion of the temple. The two olive trees represented Zerubbabel, their public leader, and Joshua, their spiritual leader and priest. In summary, God will build His temple through those He calls and assigns. Nevertheless, this will be achieved by the power of the Spirit of God.

We must get to the place where the Holy Spirit is our go-to person. The person we seek guidance, direction and power to overcome difficult situations or make decisions. For this to happen, we must make room to develop and cultivate a relationship with the Holy Spirit. So that we can learn to surrender and also as we see Him working through our lives, we develop more trust and faith and start to celebrate in weakness as this is an opportunity to see God in action.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for every time I’ve made decisions without your guidance. Even the times that I received your guidance and went in the opposite direction. Lord have mercy. I pray now that I have learned to stop, pray, and seek your face about decisions in my life and world. Help me to trust you more than I trust myself in Jesus Mighty Name.

Much Love in Christ,

Your Sister,

Ruth 😇🙏🏽❤️🔥
